Subway Cancels Sub Club Program Due To Fraud

POSTED: 12:22 pm EDT April 21, 2005

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Subway restaurants are canceling their Sub Club stamp program.

The company said people are stealing the stamps or making illegal copies of them, and it's costing Subway millions of dollars nationwide.

Sub Club stamps were designed to give discounts to loyal customers.

Subway owners said thousands of stamps are being stolen and sold on the Internet.

One roll of stamps can buy 650 subs. That's $5,000 worth of food.

"About 10 percent of the stamps that we receive in each store can be traced back to being fraudulent," Subway owner Ben Smith said.

Subway owners said they may offer discounted subs or daily specials in place of the Sub Club.

They did away with stamps here a couple years ago. Now we have the Subway cards that can also double as a gift card (i.e. you can put money on it). They accumulate your points. Are they doing away with that too??

We don't have those cards here but they sound cool.

I love the stamps though.....I eat at subway somewhat regularly (compared to other places) so I've always loved it when I get the free one!

A place in town called Captain sub gives up free subs but its all on computer. Simple..Go in and say ur phone number and order. after 5 subs u get one free. its all on file and no way to get fucked over. Alot of places do that..i still dont understand why subway never did it

Dont worry i can fix this..All these years of playing Tetris is going to come in handy!

I stopped going to Subway when they raised the cost of the 12inch sub $6.50 !!!!!! Great sandwhiches in my opinion but I will not pay that much. Especialy since I am in college. They probably raised the price to pay that loser Jared!

Why not just ditch the stamps and use a hole-punch like most places do? This sounds like an excuse for Subway to get rid of a program they could keep, they just don't want to.

"I don't like the BCS. You can take the BCS and shove it as far as I am concerned. I have said that 50 times over the last 10 years. They say Bowl Championship Series. Who are they kidding? It is not a championship series, it is a bowl championship, forget the series."

- Joe Paterno

We put on college football's most distinctive uniform, thinking about those before us. The walk-ons, the All Americans, the legends who made sure to uphold the tradition. We are the black shoes, white helmets and plain uniforms of one of America's most successful programs. We are heroes, we are winners, we are Penn State football.
