I just saved a $1000 on slip-ons (not car insurance). A buddy of mine gutted a couple of stock Ducati cans, flipped the tips up-side-down and covered them with carbon fiber and a Ferracci plate (cheesy..I know however they look a lot better with a label). We tried them out on my machine and they work great. A definite increase in power (a couple of horsies)and a crisper throttle response. Plus they look pretty decent. Stock Ducati pipes have multiple inner chambers that take a lot of fun out of the engine. They do come out with a little work. Now I can buy that beach house I have always wanted. Atcually, I will probably pick up a new computer chip. Our next project will be to turn a 10 pound bar bell plate into a smaller flywheel.

From the pics, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference, aside from the strange angle the the exhaust outlets are facing. 'course, I'm not all that familiar with Ducs, so this may actually be the norm. :shrug
Looks good regardless. :thumb

With the tips tilted up is there a possibility of water down the pipes. Of course I guess thats possible with a lot of bikes.
Otherwise looks good :thumb

I don't like the upward tilt of the tips, but they look great otherwise! :thumb
Yeh, I have gotten mixed review about the turned up tips. I think they look better in person.
As far as water going into the pipes...this bike almost never sees or feels rain so it should not be a problems unless I get caught in a storm.
Carbon fiber..you can purchase sheets of the stuff. I can find out for sure where my buddy purchased the stuff if you are interested.
Thanks for all of the compliments.

Yes, I am interested! I never knew you could buy it that way... probably not actually carbon fibre but so long as it has the look its good enough for me...
look in the back of Motorcyclist Magazine, they usually have places listed.
Looks like these guys (http://www.hotbuystation.com/category/SD/SD001.htm) sell it too.

There's a guy around here who has made a little business out of a similar mod:
