Yamaha YZF 250

I recently found out that the YZF also was made as a 250 but have yet to find/see one. From what I've heard, they're hard to find and I'd have better luck getting one imported. Is that true or does anyone know of anywhere closer that I might be able to find them? I live in Florida, but don't mind taking a little road trip to neighboring states to check some out.

why you wanna downgrade from your 600?

The YZF250 isnt a streetbike. Its a 4 stroke dirtbike. Races in the 125 2 stroke class.

The smaller cc Yamaha street sportbikes include the FZR400 (88-90), FZR250 and FZR125 (both of those were Japanese models.)

The 600 is too much for me to handle to start out with on a sport bike. Even though I've been riding cycles since I was 7 or so years old, they were primarily dirtbikes and then I ended up with a hand me down that all of my brothers used until they upgraded or were stupid enough to leave home and get married. That was basically a streetbike/enduro that I turned into a trailrider on my property.

Also keep in mind I have a very small frame and the jump from what I'm used to........to this 600 is like going from Fiat to a Hummer. :D

Well, I definately want to race, so....other than an SV, I don't know of what I MIGHT be able to handle.

Road race or dirtbike racing?

If its road racing, CCS has an Ultralightweights class (Ninja 250's and VTR250's) which is CHEAP to run and pretty much not many people in that class.

I'm only interested in road racing. I tried a Ninja 250 last year but wasn't too impressed, but....I'll try one out again and look up a VTR 250. Thanks for your help. ::banana

I sat on one for a few minutes at a shop nearby. Only doing that does not do me justice. I never asked if I was allowed to test ride at least in the parking lot but I really think it would be stupid to even inquire. I just don't want another incident like a few months ago on the FZR600.

the bike is really light and easy to ride. Maybe someone close to you would have one you could ride around and see how you liked it.

OMG, I'm such a dumbass. I meant an FZR. I don't know why I keep saying YZF for an FZR. I keep doing that and it pisses me off. Sawry.....:dumbass

Ever try looking for a FZR400 or CBR400? They might be hard to find, but I think you'll like it.

That was another bike that I was considering because it's also the right height for me. But, I don't like Honda's, no offense to you Honda lovers.

if you want to road race and dont like hondas why not go for a aprilia rs125 or 250. the cbr400 fireblade the only way to get one is to have it imported, the fzr400 theres one here for sale for $3000 i have a honda cb-1 400 and the fzr400 will smoke me on the track.

Just a note on two-stroke bikes (Aprilia RS125, RS250, Suzuki RGV250, Yamaha TZ250, etc). They are little powerful bikes on steroids and takes a lot more to maintain.

FZR 250's plenty of them here in Australia. Very nice bike to ride. They really dip in nicely into corners etc.

If you can find one they are a good bike.

Cheers
