New Leathers

Anybody know a good way to soften up new leathers. I got mine in today and they are real stiff. I have heard of putting mink oil on leather to soften it up but I don't know how that would work on died leathers.

Thanks

Wear 'em, sweat like hell in them, get caught in the rain a few times...... seriously.

Don't know if I'd use mink oil on them.

I always use tyhe Meguires leather cleaner & conditioner (when I bother) - seems to do a great job.

But there's no substitute for just breaking them in. Whadja get?

Joe Rocket GPX in the red, grey and black. Got the gloves to match. Went ahead and bought a Dianese back protector also. I may be slow around the track this weekend but i'll be color coordinated. :D

I'd throw them on a go riding sometime before saturday. They will feel a lot better even after just one ride. :thumb

You must obey the rule of wearing new leathers around the house for a couple days to loosen them up before actually riding in them. :crackup

Just go outside and chase the dog around for a while. Jump in the hot tub and soak for about an hour, then run straight into the shower and crank up the cold water. That'll do it :thumb

Seriously jump in the shower with them on and the walk around the house untill they are almost dry then lay them flat till they are dry . Condition them with saddle soap afterwards :thumb

wear them riding ....if you still ride:nanana

Take the armour out then put the suit in a bed sheet and tie the ends of the sheet in a knot, then put them in the dryer (no heat, just air) for a few hours.

The point was to get them loosened up a bit before the track day on Saturday. Guess i'll just wear them on the ride to and from work the rest of the week.

That guy is my new hero. It takes a lot of guts (no pun intended) to do that. And just think of his quest to find leathers that fit too. It probably wasn't easy!
