Computer Trouble

Dell 4550 w/ XP. McAfee virus & firewall installed fyi.

Was running normal and the little 'windows update' balloon popped open when I started it. I clicked to get the updates & it looked like it started to download a Win Service Pack II, something like that. It then said 'access denied' at some point. It then froze, so my wife turns off the computer and later on turns it back on. Now it starts up, and eventually goes to an all blue screen with this:

STOP:c0000135 (unable to locate component)
This application has failed to start because winsrv was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.

Whenever I start up the computer, it always goes to the above blue screen & words. :confused

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Reading through that stuff, there are quite a few warnings to make sure the person doing this task knows what he/she is doing. I am not very computer literate, would it be best to find someone to come over and take care of it?

Not really, you can't do much worse than what you are already encountering. Just don't start deleting and changing things that aren't mentioned in the article.

You should be able to handle it.

My wife spent all day today debuggin our spyware, trojan horse, infected computer. Damn thing was filled with all kinds of phucked up shit gathered across the net. I say the internet will become obsolete in 5 years if programmers or government cant find a way to stop the ever changing world of hacker trash!:shake

It's really not that bad if you use a little common sense on what popups to say yes to and don't surf porn all the time. :nanana

You can always "Bubba it" and just go out in BFE and fish. :)

Don't blame porn, I surf porn sites all the time, and I never get any virii or spyware. :D

DOn't install any "FREE" software. Nothing is "FREE" in life. Have common sense when surfing the internet.
