Rolling stoppies

I've been doing some nice stoppies on my DRZ.

I can get them pretty high, and I'm getting the feel of where it balances out (haven't gone over the bars on THIS bike yet.)

My question is, how do you do rolling stoppies?

My guess it to just come in hotter, and then once the rear is up there, modulate the brake to keep the rear skyward.

I'm interested in learning without wrecking. I've been busting wheelies since 2001, and haven't looped out yet, even trying 12'o'clocks (*knocks on wood*). But, that is because I believe that it's possible to do these things without going too far. So what are your secrets for doing good rolling stoppies?

at speeds about 70 or 80 mph u can get a good lift of the rear end u mainly gotta get the feel for it but as u grip in the brake try shifting ur body weight into the bars and release the brake gently from 70% brake to about 30% and just weel on in u'll feel the balance point especially if u bin doin wheelies for a while u should be good!

Here's the bad thing about stoppies...you will wreck! There is a fine line when rolling stoppies on where the balance point (bp) is and when you go to far. The hard part is when you go to far, there is no going back. If you go past bp on a wheelie, you tap the rear brake and you come back down...go past bp on a stoppie, and you are going over the bars!

That said, wear your gear and make sure you bike has a cage!

Also I found that 40 mph is better when learning since it is fast enough that with proper bp you should be able to roll them 20' or more, but is also has less of a pucker factor than the higher speeds. Make sure your arms are straight and locked when you come in. Shift all your weight forward before you hit the brakes. You will have to apply them quickly to get it up, then release it moderatly to get to the bp. It will take lots of practice and I suggest baby steps. Take your time and get a feel of what your bike is doing and compare that to your skill level.

You can also have a friend video it so you can look back and see how you are doing. Most people think they are higher than they actually are!

And good luck, I never got mine further than 30' or so and that was coming in around 50...probably mostly by accident anyway!!
