Avatar Problem

I know this has been asked but i wasnt sure wich tread it was in i want to put a pic but it keeps telling me it is too large how do i shrink it i have adobe photoshop 6.0 but have no clue on how to use it help please!!!!!!!

Photoshop: To down size an image, go to "Image: Image Size..." and make the Pixel Dimensions 150 x 150 pixels (2.083 inches), if your image is square. If your image is not square and you don't want to crop it down, just make sure one of the dimensions is 150 pixels with the other at a smaller size. Set the Resolution to 72.

Then use "Filter: Sharpen: Unsharp Mask..." This will make the image look a bit more "crisp."

Finally use "Save For Web..." I usually save RGB JPG images (JPG for raster, GIF for vector). I think the avatar file size here is set around 1 Mb, but if not, you can go to "Settings:" on the right and select "Optimize To File Size..." and set it to whatever K you need.
