Charleton Stokes (the guy on the ol'KLR from shady) today. I was two-up on the KLR today in a "Coast to the SV store race" with Stokes and some guy on a viffer, and I came in second:D
You ain't rode until you do a coast run (coast as in bike in neutral not running) with Charleton, watching him coming close to getting a knee-down on a bike not running, than I passed for second in the last streach before getting to the SV store.
Sounds crazy but you could see the smile through my Shoei!!!:D :D :D
Edit:Added his first name

Had a great time in Shady Valley today. Good to see everyone
i haven't seen in a while. And yes, the coasting part was alot
of fun. Can't wait to go back when we can stay longer. :D
Awesome, glad you guys had a good time...
How cold/warm was it up there? Road clear?
Thinking of making a run up to SV on Monday.

That coast run sounded like a blast guys! Sorry I missed it!
J~
The playground side was wondermous...nary any gravel, and light traffic. However, this is the route that they are bringing the gravel trucks in, so if you can avoid them, you will love this side.
The Bristol side has been patched in a few places...it was also the cleanest I have EVER seen it. However, it has large potholes, coming back towards the store, just as you come up onto the "crest".
Hwy. 91 heading towards E-ton is a nightmare. Ride it if you are brave, or not feint of heart. Take some pictures, and send em to me.
Have fun on Monday! :thumb
Let Charleton (yes, Stokes has a first name) get a passenger and he might be able to take you Rob.:laughing You know, all you guys on KLR's are giving him the big head, he thinks he's started a trend.:D Obviously the dual sports are a great way to go, everybody who has them is fast.
Great to see you guys today, and BTW, Susan the leathers look great, nice pick up.:thumb

I ride 91 south every time I ride back to Asheville from Shady and think its a damn fun road but yes there's NO room for error. Ya get into on of those corners too hot (going that direction) and you will be at the ER having a guardrail surgically removed from yee arse! Lookin forward to some Tenn fun tomorrow. Boomer/TL/Lance see you guys at TL's as promised.

Man we used to do "coast" races on cruisers down 181 in the early 80's. What a blast!

We did coast downs when I lived in Colorado 20 yrs ago, and I was thinking that was just and old school thing.
