Wow! What a fantastic day. F*** Mid-Ohio; today was about as close to the perfect track day I've had. Weather was perfect and both Advance and Novice had a great group of riders. A few more people than usual (about 12 in Advance and the same in Novice), but you'd never know it while out on the track. I cut a couple more seconds off my average lap times (I'm closing the gap Nick); Helise cut 17 seconds off hers. Hung out with John and Ann, and had a blast riding with John all day. Can't wait to go back. Apex2Apex ROCKS!

Glad you guys had a good time . I thought about you today at work looking out the window at the perfect weather, wish I could have been there.

I thought about you guys as well. Glad to hear that you both improved. I put about 300mi in yesterday. Still wish it had been on the track instead, but I'll take what I can.

I keep losing that winning lottery ticket; damn!

We missed having you and Sara there too. Helise really improved her lap times. She's at the point where she could probably go out on her own and ride with Sara.

WHY? I would have assumed that you have been spending all your spare time at Deals Gap.

BTW, we're signing up for Barber in October this week. Are you in?

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Do you remember older guy who is at every track day with an MV Agusta, and this year a 1098? He brought the MV Monday and laid her down in T1.

T1?? He must have been expecting the 1098's compression braking to help slow him down, and got none.

Fatality @ Grattan, monday

I saw this over at Sportbikeaddicts.com:

On Monday, during the first intermediate session of the day roughly during lap 5, Richard Herald was in the back part of the track and crashed his bike as he cleared the hump. There were no other riders around at the time. The closest witness we have is the corner worker who saw the crash when it was already in progress. Apparently Rich somehow went over the handlebars of the bike, which proceeded to tumble and slide with him. Upon the arrival of the ambulance he was conscious and able to move/speak. After initial treatment he was transported to the hospital for further care.

Richard passed away tuesday afternoon due to complications.

I just found about Rich's death late last night. Unreal. There are several threads on Motorcycleaddicts.org, the main ones being:
