Larger Girls Gear?
Hey Ladies!
Not all of us are the sexy little petite things I know some of you gorgeous girls are! Some of us are on the larger side.
I'm one of these and I've had trouble finding any ladies riding gear for anyone with hips. I've had to settle for a mens XXL jacket from Alpine Stars to fit over my hips, but it's really to big through the shoulders, chest, and is too long through the arms.
Any suggestions of who might have gear for a size 16 or over? The 'larger' sizes for women from Johnny Rocket (XL), for example, are simply too small and can't fit around my hips.
I ride a sport bike and don't want to settle for Harley leather-style gear. Iew. So not me.
Thanks for any advice! I'd like to wear girls clothes again. I just don't get why the boys don't wear enough pink on the road! *grin*
HUGS to all!
Ivy

This question JUST came up on another forum a few days ago, so I happen to have a list for ya!
Teknic's "Venom" jacket goes up to a size 18 (and actually they run a little large). Great quality jacket, good looking, and comfy (has stretch Kevlar panels in it).
http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=91
Their "Sprint" pant also goes up to an 18:

In mesh, the "Supervent" goes to size 18:
http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=95
And in textile, the "Sequioa" goes to a 20:
http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=94
Then there's the G-line from Hein Gericke.... WONDERFUL stuff. Pricey, but well made and great fit.
The Bonzai jacket goes to size 16:

As does the pant:

Saratoga (another leather) goes to 18:
http://www.experience-g.com/product_...roducts_id/109
La Jolla (leather) to size 18:
http://www.experience-g.com/product_...roducts_id/118
Salinas jacket to size 18:
http://www.experience-g.com/product_...products_id/91
And I'm sure there's plenty more....
Also, the Joe Rocket Trixie comes in an XXL in one of the colors (can't recall which one... I think it's either the all black, or the black/ivory/red) which would fit about a size 18. Some of Power Trip's jackets go to a size XXL as well.

I think the trixie jackets also have zippers at the hips for more hip room

I love my Trixie jacket! I have the black/ivory/red one and it is XXL. I also have the G-Line La Jolla in Red and it is a very sweet jacket! As for my pants, I have many pairs including the Doheny from G-Line and the cleo from JR. I am by no means a "small" girl and these are the lines that fit me. Good Luck!

It does, as do the Power Trip jackets (I've got the boobs and hips as well, and those two lines fit me perfectly).

Alpinestars makes women's sizes, too. My solution was just to go custom. For some extra $$$, you get a suit that fits perfectly.
For custom, I'd check Vanson or Z-Leathers.

Firstgear has some bigger sizes, a few things go up to 2x or 3x. I can find jackets, I may not like them but they are out there. Pants are totally impossible for me. My track stuff is custom.
Oh and pay attention to size charts, some of them are crazy and are several sizes smaller than street clothes.

Who has boobs and hips?? Is that what those things are??
*grin*
Thanks for all the great links, ladies! I'm looking forward to being able to order a jacket from one of these links! Can't wait to get my pants, too!
You've all been a tremendous help and I truly appreciate it

I agree with Neebs on the Power Trip although I had to buy it one size larger than the Joe Rocket stuff. I swear, I need to Ebay the stuff I don't wear anymore so I can buy MORE stuff to not wear! LOL

Yay for this thread!!!
I was just gonna post up about it. I've always had a problem with the pants and I'm tired of wearing men's pants mostly because the knee guards are always on my shins and well, duh. They just don't fit right.

I once found a pair of Joe Rocket mens pants, the older ballistic model. They fit over my hips and I was thrilled until I realized I could literally stand on the knee armour

I have a pair of those as well. Something that converts textile to mesh. I can just BARELY squeeze into them, but as soon as everything bunches up when I sit on the bike, I can't breathe. I think I just don't want to admit I've let myself get to where I am now. Work in progress, though...work in progress. But yeah, the knee armour in that particular pair is like PVC piping or something. WAY better than the annoying FirstGear ones that I've been stuck with all these years.
I'm going shopping tomorrow and Wednesday to hopefully find a new jacket and pant set so I don't have to cancel the Sullivan day next week. (I feel bad for ditching out after signing up back in January, so if I get gear that fits, then I'll be more inclined to not cancel.)
