636 Forks on a ZX9

416 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ZX9 Driver
Will the forks from a 636 work on the front of a 01 ZX9r. It would be nice to have inverted forks and radial brakes. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If the area where the tube mounts to the triple tree is teh same diameter, yes. Then that brings up another problem. Will the 636 (thought the 636 has standard brakes and teh ZX-6RR had teh radial brakes?) forks hold the weight of the ZX-9R? Are they long enough so handling wont be screwy.
Can you just take the bottom park of the fork leg off. Its held on press fit with a pin isn't it? Maybe just use the bottom caliper brackets and press those onto 9R forks. Have to measure the fork sliders and see if same diameter.
I would like to use the Radial Brakes from the 636. The forks should be strong enough, I might have to upgrade the spring to something stiffer. My main concern is the Steering head, the diameter and length compared to the ZX9s. I have found lots of complete fork assy on e-bay..

Thanks
Tom
