A nice cop starts my year off in a good way...

Well my new year is off to a good start :thumb

Got pulled over for my tags being woefully expired (since July) on the way home from Outback on New Years Eve. Cop is totally cool and professional. Gives me no shit or evil eyes because I had my sidearm with me. Just has me stand at the rear of my truck while he take my firearm back to his car. He runs my name, the gun, and the vehicle to see if they are legit. I get to have a nice chat with his cute female partner. I try to make the best of it, even though I'm sure I have a $500 ticket coming, and chat her up. Turns out she's a newbie and only been on the force 3 months. Anyhow, the officer with my stuff field strips my Glock and puts everything in a bag. Hands it back to me along with my truck papers, license and CCW. Tells me he can't let me drive away *wink* and to wait till he leaves before I reassemble my firearm or attempt to drive away. Then he thanks me and wishes me a happy new year. NO TICKET! :eek

I was like, hot damn! I felt so lucky I went into the Mobil station I was pulled over in, and bought a lotto ticket. I won $40! :D

Then I had to work on New Years day, but that turned out to be great. This is my side biz, so I make a lot more money than when I'm working for the man. So I made about $500 for 5 hours of work AND I got to work with a guy I use to ride with about 10 years ago. The work was easy and got to chat it up the whole time.

Sure hope the rest of the year pans out like this. Never thought I'd get pulled over for a violation of something and NOT get a ticket. Still in shock somewhat a day later. :laughing

thats cool... so thats what they do when you get pulled over with a gat huh? i wonder if he just took the glock apart cuz they are so damn easy... if you had a kimber its prolly a lil harder or sometin
What a sensational way to start the year...Just think what other great things await you.

Happy New Year to you and all the CF members and families!
Great story!

I was pulled over in my car a year or two ago (going 50+ in a 30, woops) and I just kept my hands on the wheel and told the office that I have a CCW and my handgun is in the govebox. He was very cool about it and told me to leave it lay and get out my license and reg. After I gave that to him he had me step out and HE got the gun out, took it to his car and checked everything out.

Moral of the story= Verbal warning :clap

That was back in my younger, lucky days :laughing
Welp I just renewed my plates. I'm out $230, but at least I don't have to worry about getting nabbed now. I seriously doubt I'd get off with a verbal warning a second time. Would have rather of spent that on a new tire and front brakes for the RC51 though.... :shrug
230 for registration :eek

holy shit :shake

No doubt, with the late renewal penalty, the total was $251.74

We need a smiley showing his wallet melting or on fire....

I wouldn't hand a weapon back to someone I just pulled over ;) :eek

j/k

sounds like the dude was pretty cool.... and it had the desired result of you getting the registration done. :)
Nights like that remind me that there are some good cops still left out there...
awesome, and don't let your tags expire again:slap

What I really want to know is if you got the digits from the female LEO?

I was REALLY tempted to ask her, but I had a date in the truck and didn't want to be rude. :shrug

I've actually been wanting to ask out a Phx PD lady cop. I swear, in the last 2-3 months, I've seen a lot of good looking lady cops. They are always in their cars or I in mine, so I can't ask. Curious how receptive they'd be if approached for a date while on duty. Hopefully she won't get annoyed and beat me with a baton. :eek
Well, to be honest with you the individuals I run into who care enough to get their CCW permit & carry a firearm for protection usually get a whole lot of consideration from me. It's nice to have responsible citizens out there packing and you never know when one will be around to help you. I'm sure that is what other cops you guys have encountered are thinking. HERE is just one example of what I mean.
is it standard procedure to disassemble a weapon before handing it back to the owner?

or didn't the cop want the glock "accidently" going off in his face?

i hate glock.....:rant
