By serious I mean you collect them for their value, not their naked pictures. ;)

Anyway, :D the fiancee was given a bunch of old Playboy's, and we are trying to find out how much they are worth. We will be selling them, more than likely on Ebay, and want to make sure we get as much as possible, based on their actual value. Does anyone know the best and most reliable way we can go about finding out how much they are worth??

we got some from a recently deceased relative. you can't list playboy in the reg. section. it has to go in the "adult" section, and people would rather buy the hardcore stuff. we listed about 10 listings, 2-3 did BIN, but the others were cancelled by ebay.

so unless they're really collactable, it's not worth listing....

just sharing our experience.

That's why I need a source to find out what they are worth. Some are from the '70's and some are the collectors additions. :shrug

Playboys trade in the same market as Comic Books (Really!). Unless you have a special issue, such as the last issue with a staple binding, 1st edition, 1st edition with Marylin, Last Edition with Marylin, 1st edition with Madonna, etc., then the rest are worth +/- a few dollars more or less standard cover price.

With something like e-bay, you'de typically sell the whole lot easier then individually. You can goto your local comic book store and pickup or have them order a collectable pricing guide the includes Adult Material.

Also be warned, there are a few issues of Playboy and Penthouse that are illegal to sell, (And trade too), due to the fact that the models contained withen were actually underage (Such as Traci Lords). For instance the Penthouse issue that has Samanatha Fox (The British singer, not the porn star) also has a pictoral of Traci Lords, and it's illegal to sell that issue now in any way, shape or form with the pictoral intact.

Oh, and I actually read them first, look at the pics as I go thru, then go back and look at the pics again.

The wife just opens the black plastic bag, scans thru and reads the cartoons, jokes and checks out the pics. Then she never touches it again. :citadel
