i bought a gs500. it wasn't certified when i bought it so im gonna have to do it. everything looks great except the speedometer doesn't work, and the guy told me sometimes the odometer doesn't work. i know it's been dropped once, and the housing for the tach and speedo has a vertical crack.

do i have to have a working speedometer to get a certification? and how much do you think it'll cost me to fix? i 'd like to know how fast i'm going ;)

also how much does a certification cost? if there are no problems. (ballpark figure)

Being a fellow Cdn & KNOWING how our Fed & Prov---

---Govts simply THRIVE on red tape, I have a hunch you will have to purchase a new or used & working speedo to have the bike certified. As to cost of having the bike certified I simply have no idea.
Lastly if you are stopped by the police & are with a non-working speedo you will be in trouble as it is like riding a m/c without a mirror to the rear, or a horn, or a muffler ----- illegal according to the Dept of Hwys.
