Maybe I'm coming across here wrong.:confused I won't listen to music that has those lyrics that you mentioned or anything blasphemous. Heck most of the time the music I listen to doesn't even have lyrics. There are plenty of dark bands out there that don't even have cursing in thier lyrics. I gave up buying into the bands that have harsh lyrics a while back as like you said it does nothing for my walk.:shake
Just something to think about?Music comes from the word muse.
Music-Melody or harmony;any succession of sounds so modulated as to please the ear,or any combination of simultanious sounds in accordance or harmony.Music is vocal or instrumental."
Muse-1.)Properly,song;but in usage the deity or power of poetry.Thats why poets in modern times just like in ancient summon the aid of the Muse of Muses,or in other words, the genius of poetry.2.)Deep thought;close attention or contemplation which abstracts the mind from passing scenes(absence of mind.)
Melody-An agreeable succession of sounds;a succession of sounds so regulated and modulated as to please the ear.To constitute melody, the sounds must be arranged according to the laws of rythmus, measure,or the due proportion of the movements to each other.
Harmony-A setting together,a closure or seam,agreement,concert...1.)The just adaption of parts to each other,in any system or composition of things, intended to form a connected whole.2.)Just proportion of sound;or that union of sounds in two or more intervals which please the ear,or succession of such sounds called chords.
According to Webster the word "ode" or "song" is "a short poem or song;a poetical composition proper to be set to music or sung;a lyric poem."This rudiment we have chosen to call the LYRICS because it identifies the intended message-whether vocal or INSTRUMENTAL.This seed of music involves the message, often in poetic form, intended to be portrayed to the listener.(THAT`S YOU!)This occurs "SILENTLY" as the definition of MUSE indicates, and is a DEEPLY internal pondering that is often not expressed verbally or vocally.
Rhythm is the speed at which the song is sung, and the duration of the individual noteswithin the song.It is the "proportion which the parts of the motion have to each other."Rhythm is a very important rudiment, but its place is within,or in subjection to melody, harmony and lyrics. It`s supposed to support, not dominate. The message, and its expression through melody and harmony are to have priority.
Alot of the rythyms in these "Dark Bands" are used in this way.No lyrics but...
