Dad was in a wreck today

Wow, what a great way to start of the new year. Riding down I-285 on his ST 1300 and a tire comes off a rv and hits him. Luckily, he only broke his collar bone and hand. He had his textiles on, so the road rash was kept to a minimum. He is pretty sore, but glad to be ok. Bike is totalled. Less than three months old.

Damn Citadel....given the place he went down and how, I am thankful that was all of his injuries!

Tell him that fellow riders and sending thoughts his way for a speedy recovery! :thumb

I'm sure he is, but all the details are a little sketchy right now. All he remembers is waking up in the ambulance.
Damn...Hope he makes a full recovery, quickly. Talk about wrong place at the wrong time.
bad news. second wreck i've already heard of this year. hope he's feeling better.

+1 Glad to here your Dad is okay.

A good example of why we should all wear all of our gear all of the time. You can be doing everything right and then by means outside of your own control still end up going down.:(
Damn, sorry to hear about that bro.

no kidding.
sorry to hear that man. Spoke to a buddy today. He wrecked his M3 last night. No drunk at all, late at night, it was damp out. getting off one highway and only another. The interchange is a tight, 270 degree right hander going up hill. At the top of the hill he gassed it. The rear-end pitched out left which pointed the car at a guard-rail. Damage down the whole side of the car. it was around 2am, IIRC.
Ugh :( Glad to hear you dad is alright considering!
Sorry about your dad bro, wish him a speedy recovery from us!!
That completely sucks; glad he is OK.

Man, big rigs and RVs and the like scare the shit out of me. I hate being next to them even in a car/truck. I never ride by them on the bike, I generally fly by them...sometimes waiting a second or two for a vehicle in front of me to get past them first.
wow soo glad he is relatively ok sucks about the bike but really who gives a shit your daddy is still here ;) Hope he heals quickly and gets some good pain meds tell him to be good and do all his phys therapy when the time comes;)
that sux. bad way to start the year of riding :( . hope he has a speedy and full recovery.
holy poo!! Here's wishing him lots of familial support and a speedy recovery! Collarbones are a PITA, hopefully it's a simple fracture that won't require surgery. Like Miz said, PT is VERY important.. even after the doc releases you from "official" PT... have him do the home exercises too ;)

Glad that's all the damage that happened *whew*
