Has anyone heard about this ruling? Heard it the other day on the news and then checked some internet sights. I can't believe the Fcc would allow the use in broadcasts. What a joke!
Slowly, but surely all standards are being knocked down. What's your take on it being allowed? And vote for the answer along with decade you were born that applies......

well I was born in the 70s, and talk like a sailor who just came back from sea, and gets arrested by a prostitution sting the mintute he gets into port.

I am against it. Kids should not have to hear that language.
late night on public radio/tv, I can see it... other than that, no. I think lots will get carried away by it. :shrug
After reading the story I agree with the ruling, it's al about the context its used. :shrug
but, if it is used on broardcasts and the word is used often. Then it would lose it's useage and no one will care to say it.

It would not be fun anymore.....hehe

I disagree, it should not be used freely.

The word means

For
Unlawful
Carnial
Knowledge

p.s. (did not read the article)

Imo, it's in what you are watching/listening to. If you are inclined to watch something that could use this word(or other "foul" words) whats the big deal. You shouldnt be listening or get a tougher skin.

It's like talking to your mom or grandmother...I use respect around them, but I also don't expect my mom/grandmother to listen to broadcasts that use those words if they aren't hip or expecting it. I dont spout off profanities to people I dont know, and I dont think that is what will happen if the FCC changes it.

If they are listening to questionable material...expect it, IMO.
So much for common decency and decorum. Cycleforums is for saying FUCK. Broadcast TV is not. Then again, most media outlets support NAMBLA, so who really cares what they think. God I am sick of baby boomer jerkoffs (of which many qualify), what a completely irrresponsible decision. Guess I'll have to be one of the horrible parents that doesn't want his kids learning how to pull drive by's on the PS2 and learning that it's ok to say FUCK from Gideon Yago. Pardon me , I'm bitter :laughing
YOu can say shit and asshole on TV already. Other than NYPD Blue and a few episodes of South Park, I dont hear many using it. The shows that would use it generally arent for kids anyways.
I wonder if The Shield is gonna make use of this ruling. I mean comeon, it's the only word missing.

True, but you have to think: remember when all our generation could do was wait for "Star 21" or whatever that god awful movie was to come on HBO at 3am, IF you could watch undiscovered for that long.... and even then, all you got was a brief titty and a couple words less harsh than "fuck". Nowadays, all the swearing can be learned BY 10PM and after that we turn them loose into their rooms to download fucking bukkake videos off the internet. I demand my children rely on a single playboy stash in a friend's basement to learn these things! I just don't see ANYTHING positive about allowing these words on broadcast television unless someone is trying to watch Scarface, and then only because the movie doesn't make any sense otherwise. I don't think Ricky Schroeder is going to gain any viewers by saying FUCK, and I have to wonder, are they going to allow it judiciously like everyone does in real life, or is it going to be something everyone waits for on pins and needles like they did Dennis Franz nasty ass. Stupid boomers, this is all their fault.

It may be more than just "Baby Boomers", perhaps it goes deeper than that......
I'm now at chapter III of an excellent book....... so far. You may have heard of it.....It's called Mein Kamph....written by one Adolph Hitler.
Last few sections dealt with"The Jewish Question", "The World Press" etc. Very enlightening I must say........What ever happened to "Ole Adolph"..............I once saw a bumper sticker that read "Come Back Adolph, All Is Forgiven!".....................wonder what was meant by that.....:crackup
The specific case the FCC used was when Bono for U2 said, "This is fucking great!" after receiving an award on live TV. The FCC said it was ok.
Fuck Fuckity Fuck Fuck Fuck................
What is the world coming to?? If I ever catch my 5 year old saying fuck, I would wash his mouth out with soap...
I voted 70's and no. I was going to go with yes. I don't think it should be done during the day. Let the kids here it later.

No, it should not be allowed. Just listen to George Carlin's take on what should or should not be allowed on public airwaves.
