wow...interesting guage setup. track bike perhaps?

why the one up five down stickers? :confused
Yep, track bike. That is my uber-trick home made carbon fiber dash. Made with 100% real carbon fiber!:clap
The stickers are a reminder for anyone else riding my bike that it is GP shift.
Thanks. I'll have to keep trying to get mine functional as I see it can be done.:D .
BTW if you're interested, I have a chronology of the resurrection of mine on our local board. You can see it here http://www.speed-freekz.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=750&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 .
Cheers, Lee S.
1 up 5 down.. reverse shift eh?
i need to do a fairing stay like that good idea

yours is way better then mine

and gauge clusters i would like to do one simpler then stock remove the housing but what i will mount the temp and tach to i dont know i got rid of the speedo a while back and just taped a lap timer up on that spot
what steering dampener u running ? i got the daytona but have not tried others
is that a zx7 master cylinder? where did you remount your choke if you kept it?

i need to learn some stuff from you guys

Back from the dead, this thread is.
For the gauges I make a piece of carbon fiber (aluminum or fiberglass or steel or plexi would work too) out of some scraps I had lying around. I drew out the shape I wanted and cut it all out with a scroll saw. I used misc bits of hardware from Lowe's to attach the Temp and Tach gauges. Just unscrew the speedo cable at the front wheel and put it on ebay. Affix your new gauge cluster with zip ties to your fairing stay, and ride!
The fairing stay is the race model from Vortex. But they don't make them anymore. GP Tech makes some though. Or you could go to your local welder/fab shop and have them make one for you. Should take about an hour. I'm looking into making one out of CF. If it works in real world testing I may make a few more.
The Steering Damper is a Sprint I snagged on Ebay for cheap. It has 14 clicks and seems to work fine.
The front brake lever/master cylinder is off of a 2000 ZX6R. The original was damaged in a previous crash and leaked a bit. $14 on Ebay.
If you look atmy last pic, just above the top of the fork tube is a cable. That is my choke. I just have to stand there and hold it open until the bike is warmed up enough to idle on its own. Not a problem here since really cold weather is rare in winter, let alone during track season.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

i gotta get a new master cylinder for the front too the stock one one screw that holds the cap is completely stripped to the core so i cant open it up i'll try drilling it frst but anyway next i will try to fab a fairing stay at the local shop to match those specs . anything is better then the stock one

i also am about to remove the key ignition to just push button start and canceling out the key

then i guess i'm good for a bit the stock speedo i sold a long time ago on ebay and i guess i'll hit u up with any other question if i get them

maybe u can post some more pics all around i would like to see someone elses setup for a change so i can learn something and maybe be better next year..

p.s. email me back at [email protected] i want the plastics just let me know what email to paypal to.

I need to flip mine to GP shift before the Feb 16th trackday- I liked it much better once I started riding the TZ. I should have the Fox shock on it by then, and I think Marcus is going to redo my forks the evening before the trackday. The trackwhore will ride again :)
Between casual and Bass Reflex, looks like I need to go get some Krylon red paint. I'm feeling left out of the "Red First Gen ZX6R" club.
Casual, I'll email you pics of my bike tonight late.
Gp shift is the only way to go. Unfortunatly I won't have the 600 at the Feb. track day. Still needs a new clutch. But I'll be Tarding it! Woohoo!

!
hahahaha... i feel the same way!! im gonna get krylon black though!!! how exactly did u guys paint ur bikes?coats, paint, etc
1) Purchase rattle cans of paint
2) Make minimal effort to knock off large bits of dirt
3) Paint fairings. Try to get decent coverage
4) Drink beer while admiring just how cheap you really are.

lmao

yeah basically take plastics off hang them somewhere
then buy krylon i used flat red and recently i started repainting to flat white
i think i will do flat white and white wheels for the next season not sure yet or i will go back to red..
its basic dont spray so close that you get runs just do even job all around if u reall want to be nice clean it prime it and etc. then paint but easiest is to start spraying while drinking!!
Shit! Looks like you took the body work off the bike before painting. Perfectionist!!!!:redflip
