What do you consider expensive?

I'm paying $1100 w/ no room mate. I don't believe that is all that expensive.

Its about 1000 sq ft 15 min from NYC.

it's relative to the area........you could easly afford a $100k house for $1100/mos here.

$5-600 is good imo, for a single HERE.

I agree that it is relative to the area... but would thing that after working as a locator $500 - $600 in a major city would be ssscccaaaarrryyyyy

I voted $1500 ~ sometimes renting isn't an option. IMO might as well rent something you can afford but that's nice :shrug

We pay $850 a month including all of our utilities(except cable & Internet) and we feel like we get a great deal. THe last place I lived we ended up at like $1100 until all was said and done and that was about my limit. Both have been nice, clean places. The last one was in a better neighborhood(a retirement community a few minutes from the beach) than this one though.

NYC is expensive as you can tell from the poll responses.

In 1993 I paid $875 for 600 sq. ft. in the East Village.

That's what I paid for my last apartment in DC in 1998.

My option isn’t even on there. I pay $729 a month and I’m paying way too much for a one bedroom.

i just moved out of my apartment.........it was 1 bedroom not sure about Sq. feet but pretty decent place had a pool and stuff and it was $395 a month + gas and electric.

I lived in Ortley beach for $675 a month For a house with 2 bedrooms

I can not beleive I moved out But I hated paying someone elses mortgage.

I'd consider $400/month too much unless (1) I was making enough $$$ to keep it proportional to what I get paid, or (2) I get a hell of a lot for my money.

For the record, I pay $325/month for a 2 bed/1 bath "house". It's really an early pre-fab built like a single-wide, and I have no closet space, but I have a nice bit of room, a yard, and cheap utilities. Not too far from the nearest town.

I pay $795 for a 4 bedroom house, not including utilities. I consider that expensive for my area, but a great deal for a 4 bdrm house. :shrug

I pay $850 a month for a 2 bedroom apt.

20 minutes from downtown San Diego, 20 minutes from the beaches and 30 minutes from the mountains.

Not bad...the area I'm in aint the greatest, but my apt. is nice and it's secure.

I'm paying 1k a month for a 1250 sq. ft. apartment on the top floor of a 3 floor building. Some utilities are included. We're 20 minutes or so to downtown Chicago, so it's not that bad.

All of those options are too expensive for me. Since I've lived in Austin my rent has been:

$850/month - 1 bed, 1 bath
$1050/month - 2 bed, 2 bath w/ roommate
$300/month - rented room in friend's house
$400/month - rented room in friend's house

If I had to go back to an apartment, I'd be looking for something around $600 now. Back when I was paying $850 the market was booming and rent was higher than it is now.

last apt was 815 sq ft. $440/month rent with parking space. one bedroom, no yard, it was a ranch.

bought a house, 1056 sq ft. $560/month for mortgage P&I, insurance and taxes. it's a 3 bedroom 1.5 story with a full basement, a fenced yard, and a 1.5 story detached garage.

im not renting, but we pay 950 a month for a 2000 sq ft house, 3 bedrooms, 2 car garage in a nice neighborhood.
