Buddy just took his ZX7r up to 180 mph inidicated, and was wondering how fast that *actually* is, anyone know? Rough guesstimate will do, I know its not accurate, just wondering how off it really is........

We did some top-end runs out in the styx in North Florida a while back with a calibrated radar gun and these were the results...

On my 929 I was getting an indicated 188 mph which on the gun was 174.

My buddy's R1 was indicating the same 188, but was reading 177 on the gun.

The only bike that was close was another friend's GSXR 750 that was indicating 171 and read 168 on the gun.

Most of the guys that ran that day (about 15-20 people) were around 10mph off at speeds above 160...hope that helps.

Depends on a number of variables; If you have a front wheel, mechanical speedo, your front tire should be stock size for best accuracy. If you have a digital/mechanical tranny speedo, then your sprockets have to be stock for best accuracy.

At that speed, if everything is stock, 10MPH is right about the average over-post.

Well I did the calculations using all the required info for his particular motorcycle and after I enter the formula for Kawasaki his actual speed comes out to 21.45333MPH.
:redflip

Just kidding...no brand bashing!

180MPH on my bike is actually 0MPH cause you'd have blown the engine at 150. :(

those are some fast speeds.:eek

the ZX7R has a front wheel mechanical speedo.
Knowing that, I would guess 145mph.:redflip

185mph indicated. 171 actual (GPS verified)

But after that I went a little faster ;) (closed course ofcourse!)

I'd guess 165-167 on my Hayabusa. Or just into 5th gear ;)

I always noticed my TL read lower than my friends' R6's and R1's....like mine would read 145 and theirs would read 152.....I think Zuki has the most accurate speedos.
