I Haven't Been This Sick in a Long Time

First off Happy Holidays Everyone. I have not been around much because since Sunday night, I have been sick as a dog. I have literally been confined to bed for the last three days. (I haven't even been on here, you know I must be sick.) I didn't feel well Sunday afternoon after my shift at the restaurant so I went to sleep. Monday I felt better and Tuesday I went into work but I got sick again and went home. This is like so unusual for me, I'm rarely sick. I started losing my energy badly and I got very dehydrated. Since Tuesday night, I have drank four gallons of gatorade and I am still dehdrated, dizzy, bloated and no energy whatsoever. I also started feeling my left leg tingling alot and also some tingling in the upper left side of my back. I went to the Doctor Wednesday morning and was diagnosed with the flu, but I haven't vomited once. He said the tingling was because of a lack of potassium since I haven't eaten for a few days. They say there are many strains of the flu right now. Yesterday, I walked around a little more and actually ate some light foods and felt better, not as much tingling but still so tired, I feel like I'm out of it. I have never slept so much.

'Bout an hour ago, I woke up again and that tingling in my back is now like a throbbing pain and its very uncomfortable. At first, I thought I slept on it funny which I've done before many times, but its not going away very much and its got me worried a little. Is this normal for the flu, I know many of you have been sick with it this year.

Again, I can honestly say, I have not been this sick in a long time. Damn its frustrating and I am just so uncomfortable. BTW, I do have family five minutes away so I am getting some help from them so I'm not alone down here. I wish I was feeling better, this is frustrating.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the flu. I have seen and reated so many cases of it recently I lost count. I just hope I dont come down with it too.

Yeah, this has been real frustrating Tom. I can't even get myself comfortable to go back to sleep because of my back throbbing right now. Damn, I hate this, this flu sucks. :rant
Worst part is there isnt much for us to do about it but manage the symptoms, keep hydrated and tough it out.

Tom
<-- never had the flu. *knock on wood* I rarely ever get sick and when I do it's just a minor headcold that goes away within a day if not sooner.
I've been trying to shake it for 2 weeks,i also couldn't get out of bed for 3 days and when i tried i would get very dizzy and vomit and almost pass out, so just hang in there your not alone.

I'm feeling a little better now but every time i go outside to get in my truck(not far at all BTW)I start to cough really bad and vomit every time.
:(:( First off, GET BETTER SOON! :D:D:D

The gatorade is a good idea... also, if you can keep anything down, eat a bananna or 2 (the potasium will do wonders).

The tingling is pretty normal (I usually get tingling and some throbbing almost like I'm getting electric shocks all over :()

As long as you stay hydrated, you should be fine. Get plenty of rest (not necessarily sleep, that's gonna be rough, I know) and do what your body asks: if it feels like getting up, do so (don't overdo it though); if it feels like laying down, do it (I'm sure you already know this :) )

Hope you feel better soon :thumb
Shouldn't this be in the news forum?:nanana :nanana

Just kidding brother. Get well soon, but don't push yourself too quickly or else you could make yourself worse.

Suppositories will help with the vomiting - your family doctor can call you in a prescription. They are only $18 if you don't have a prescription plan.
