Learn how to snowboard?

291 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  mnewell
Well Im planning on going up to learn how to snowboard with my girlfriend; hopefully this week. So I hear that we should both be prepared to spend a lot of the day on either our knees or back. Anyway, its worth a try. Just wondering if we can sign up for lessons same day at some of the passes. Anyone have any cost figures for the day plus some shitty equipment rentals? Or are we going to have to rent somewhere local and then bring the shiet with us?

Go to STeven's - talk to Brad....I'm a great snowboarder now!!
LOL (kidding)
Goto Stevens.
Rent gear.
Get private lessons.

You and your girl can share the teacher. I think the rates are something like $65 an hour... An hour probably won't be enough so get one for at least an hour and a half or two hours. My girl did this a couple of weeks ago. She was having a great time until she dislocated her knee. Be careful up there.

Anybody going up tomorrow? I'll be at Stevens...
stevens or snoqualmie...which one
Crystal is the best place to learn IMHO. The bunny slope is wide and mellow and it is pretty easy to get off of the lift. Snoq is really crowded with other beginners (they get in your way and make you crash) and the beginner slope at Stevens isn't that friendly. Honestly though, this week is going to be crazy busy just about anywhere you go.

You can get a 3 lesson package with gear at any of the slopes for about $150.
Learing how blows donkey dick...but have fun and DO be prepared to bust ass

Get a helmet, it's worth it...IMO Wish I would have had one about 6-7 years ago when I was learning how to board

Once you learn how, it is focking awesome!

You should see me on Winter X-games any time now:redflip
i used to teach at snoqualmie.

i can run a lesson for you and your GF. =)

like everyone else said plus look for the
PACKAGE deal: gear, lift ticket and lesson.

that's usually the best for the buck.
private lessons are a PLUS because
drop in group lessons you don't get
as much one on one attention...

might try a group session first,
and then if that doesn't work too well,
spring for a private later. it typically
takes a lesson or two to get things
down anyway...

Ya I see more and more people wearing em now...My boss recomends the Giro brand helmets, since they have good venting (if u sweat alot like i do when im ripping:redflip )

btw went to white pass yesterday, waist deep powder...was frokking awsome:redflip
Baker kicked ass! Waist deep powder, and i crashed and disappeared, that takes alot for me to disappear!
Went to Stevens Pass today. Holy shit, I can't believe how many people were there today. Crowdedest Mountain EVAR!
