It's killin' me havin' to sit in
traffic when I could so easily go to the
front of the line. When I do..I get honked
at.. Surely there is a lane-sharing
technicality one can use to split.
I got yanked by a State True-per
the other day...who let me off with a
warning... How does one begin the
process to legalize it... I mean really...
If they can do it in California...and gawd
nose we do it in England why not here?!?!
:confused

as far as i know, california is the only state that allows it however it is not exactly legal to do so in the state.

i resided in cali most of my life and while there is no law that states you can legaly split lanes, there is no law that states you cannot. cali just lets every one do it and you can get a tickit in cali for splitting lanes if the officer thinks that it is wreckless. there are rumors that say 5 mph over the speed of traffic is the legal limit in california but really there is no law governing the maximum speed you can travel while splitting lanes. its pretty much the officers discretion

as far as getting that legalized here, you have a better chance of getting the helmet law repealed. too many squids ruin it for us. the last thing the public wants is motorcycles weaving in between lanes.

Its funny how it comes up when you search for it in Cali...

Can motorcycle riders "split" lanes and ride between other vehicles?

Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible but must be done in a safe and prudent manner.

I talked to a guy with the WA state motorcycle safety foundation at the cycle show about lane splitting.. He said they keep trying to get something here like Cali..

It is illegal here for sure and the asses with the "me first" style of driving that seems to be the way to dirve in WA might make it real dangerous to lane split even if it was made legal.

I have rode down to Cali. and loved the ability to split.

Well you can get away with it if traffic is stopped... do you think a cop car can worm its way between lanes to follow you? :nanana
