Okay due to a recent run-in with a couple moderators I want to know what everyone thinks of the jobs they are doing? A friend of mine has been threatened to be banned from this forum permanently if he so much as talks to a certain other member again. These two members disagree about alot of stuff and they show it posting their differences. Sure sometimes they put each other down, but only in a humorous, joking kind of way. They don't use excessive language and I don't see how it is harming anyone. Now if either of them so much as post a "hi" to the other they will be banned for good. I don't think that's right. If they had been threatened to do things to each other then I would understand, however this I don't understand. You would think that the moderators would be trying everything they can to keep members, but by doing this they are just going to lose some. I know this post will not stay up very long, because the gutless moderators don't want to hear from others about the bad job they are doing.

I also know that several moderators will read this and hopefully the couple that PMed me threatening to kick me off will read it as well. For them I have attached the following image:

I try to be as impartial as possible. I don't let my personal beliefs influence whether or not I act on something. I've not been a moderator here for very long but have moderated/admin'd a few other boards since early 2000.

If your friend had a single solitary incedent, I doubt he'd have received the warning he had. There is a history between those members and in an effort to stifle it once and for all, the decision was made.

What we do, we do for the benefit of the board. Our actions may not appear as such at times but there is a much bigger picture to what is going on. Many decisions are made by info not posted. Many times decisions are made on PMs sent back and forth between members and staff.

Grndscrpr, you are going on information that is likely representitive of one side. If that was the only side I saw, then I understand your post. There is more information out there than what is available to you.
It's with that information that decisions are made. 99 times out of 100 they are made by the collective, not a single staff member.
So in short, how do I think we do as moderators?
A damn fine job.

Stanger and X exchanged a couple posts with smilies - not so bad. If Rez hadn't said anything....:shrug In light of other recent arguments between long-time adversarial members which went way out of bounds, a smart move. Banning...a bit much, imo.
