Any of you smart types know of a good solution for backing up data on a network?
I've got 4 computers at work on a peer-to-peer setup (all XP) and I want to create a central data point without a server. Can I hook up a USB drive and assign it a letter on the network? I've looked at a few networked HD's like the Mirra Personal Server and the SimpleTech unit, but they seem to be overkill for what I want. I just want to store commonly used files in one central spot and occasionally be able to backup data off a laptop. I can spend up to $300, any Ideas...

An external USB2 drive will just show up as another drive letter on the host system, which can then in turn be set up as a network share. I use a 250GB SIDE drive in an external USB2 box for this purpose. The whole thing cost me CAN$180 to put together.
