I need a pair or Kiele and I to share, long flight to Maui coming up and that constant drone of engines drives me nuts (Kiele as well) after about 4 hours, especially on non-red eye flights when you can't sleep.

Recommendations? I am not spending $300 on headphones for Kiele's iPod, I will drop some cash though to get a good pair.

these are nice, brandon

i have them in black - very nice headphones, nice bass response etc - the only caveat is that they block external noise, but don't do a good job of keeping the music in - ie, if you're listening to music really loud, you may disturb those around you. but screw those around you! :nanana

btw - amazon has them cheaper than best buy.

I used to have those (until my dog ate all my pot and then got the munchies and decided to eat them) and, while they are very good, they are not noise cancelling headphones. I dunno why they say they are on the Best Buy site but if you goto the Sony site, they are not listed as noise cancelling.

I've seen a lot of people use the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 ones on aircraft. They seem popular, although I haven't tried them myself.

At Sea-Tac, there is a Bose booth past security. Not sure what they cost though. Probably too much (like most of Bose stuff). lol

+1 for the Etymotic.

I'm a sound guy, so probably a little more anal than most when it comes to sound gear. I got these for christmas and love them. Good isolation and no funny sounding noise canceling stuff.

$89 at Amazon.

Just make sure if you are getting the in ear type you don't mind things all the way in your ear, cuz they sound like whimpy ass half way in.

i stand corrected - they do a very good job of cancelling a majority of the noise. i ride the train to work everday and i've also taken them on a plane with me and for the money, i have zero complaints. ;)

good lookin' out, mang!

I've got these too as does another rider on this site and they rock. They are the only thing that works great on a motorcycle and on planes. I spent 42 hours on planes last month and they worked great, work great on a treadmill at the gym, and under my helmet on the bike. Highly recommended and worth every penny.

Save yourself some money...

Go to Radio Shack, they re-label some Koss brand noise cancelling headphones that i use on the bike. They block out 75% of road/bike noise and sound great. I used another more expensive brand of noise cancelling headphones that didn't drown out enough background noise that i had to have my volume at max to hear it.
I can listen to my $20 radio shack ones and have the volume at a safe level WHILE riding.

I picked a pair up this weekend to try them out. All though I've never tried the Etymotic's. I have to say these work quite well. they come with 3 different sizes and shapes of ear plugs. Good base sound as well. Hey for 20 bucks :shrug Cant beat them. They even have a li'l mute button that stays on as long as the buttons pressed.
