My kids will be leaving the country for 10 months.



I purchased a domain and webhosting and would like my site to host a cheap, no thrills forum for us to post on.


(as well as all my SBN crap! )


I am not a web stud (my first venture).

I am a WAN Engineer.


Can someone please help me out with suggestions on forum software.

And how the hell do I publish it! :laughing

dunno about open source but you could probably set up an ez-board pretty easily. there are pop-ups, but i think it's still free for boards with little traffic.

I've always thought phpbb was free software you just had to host it? So if you have the bandwidth I guess thats good. But ez board is free IIRC but does have alot of annoying pop ups.

YaBB is pretty good wicked. All you have to do is compile apache --with-perl=loc,
there is even a cgi version I believe (slightly slower).

1st 2 you can host yourself or on a hosted server. Free for personal use. But if hosting yourself, its a bitch to get setup. 3rd is webbased and easiest to setup but is slow at times.
