I received an email from Courtney Hurd, the director for http://www.pitcrewsforkids.org/

We did a wonderful toy run for them back on Dec. 6th. I forwarded her email to everyone on my CF list, so that you could be proud that the kids loves their presents. For those not on my mailing list, here is a copy n paste of the text.

I'd also like to say thank you so much to those that helped get this done, and make it such a great success.:hail :thumb

"Dear Boomer,

I've neglected for formally thank you for sponsoring, organizing, and executing the Pit Crews for Kids Toy Drive. I was completely overwhelmed when I picked up the loads of toys from Interstate Cycle. The timing was perfect -- I had planned gifts for 14 patients and their families to be delivered to the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Duke University Medical Center on December 14. Between December 14 and December 25, 10 additional patients were admitted to the unit -- patients that we had no gifts for. The unwrapped toys that your organization collected were the answer to our dilemma! In addition, the social workers at Duke allowed the patients' parents to "shop" through the toys you collected to choose a gift for their children. You cannot imagine how this lifted the parents esteem to be able to personally select a gift for their child but not incur any extra costs.

Everyone associated with Pit Crews for Kids and the Hendrick Marrow Program joins me in sending our gratitude. Thanks to your efforts and the efforts of your colleagues, the patients at Duke got to experience at least one "normal" moment this holiday season -- receiving gifts.

Best wishes,

Courtney "
