Thanks, I've been building it myself (with minimal help and minimal sub-contractors). Yep, 2-car garage, it's around 2700 sq. ft, and I'm in SW Missouri. By building it myself I can afford to put better quality stuff in it. I'm a little over budget, but not bad, and I won't have near 500K in it. I can't wait!

I wish I had the time and the know-how to do something like that.
My buddy just built a 2800 sq ft one about an hour north of me and I am in love with his house.
He had to spend a little over 300, got 3 acres, 4 bdrms, 13 ft ceilings all around (which I really like), 3 fireplaces, 2 car garage and a full unfinished basement (so the basement is not included in the sq footage. He is going to finish the basement once the taxes are determined.
Do you know what your taxes are going to be? (if you dont mind me asking)

I choose to live in denial about the taxes. I don't even want to think about them right now. Talk to me this time next year... :rant

well you should get a nice write off this year, right?
that's the thing I love most about owning property.
I bought a house this year and refinanced a condo I own and I think the closing costs on both of them are deductible. Hoping to get a nice chunk of loot back this year.

We'll see. I "started" a business this year so I could buy all the equipment I needed to build this house and deduct those costs. It's all about tax shelters...
