Spools on a F4i

I've been wanting to put spools on my bike for awhile as I hate the damn pad type rear stand. Whats the general consensus on drilling into the swingarm to add spools?

measure twice and drill once.....lol no i have heard people do it all the time on 929's. i would say it should be no problem
Generally the swingarm aluminum is not thick enough to support a deep enough thread pattern. Yes you can get a 8mm bolt to thread into the arm, but it will very quickly strip out when subjected to the weight of the bike.
I know this because my F4i track bike was tapped with a 8 mm that stripped out.

I have to agree, it would be nice to have spools. My bike is generally only on the stand for maintainence, so it isn't too anoying though.

I guess you could probably do a little welding to achieve a suitable thickness, but it would look a little rough unless you refinished the swing arm. Definitely not worth it to me :shake
I put them on mine. I used LP's riv-nut kit, never had any problems. I'll see if I can find a part number.
