i posted this in the how to forum, but figured someone here might have an answer here that didnt read the other fourm.

my cluth is relativly hard to pull in and the friction zone is very small..maybe 1.5 inches total from full clutch to engaged clutch. meaning all the travel from the grip till about 1.5 inches before the cluch lever is at rest does nothing then the last 1.5 inches has all the friction zone. does anyone have any experience with this problem or a possible solution.

bike is a 2000 sv 650. 12,600 miles
the fine tune adjustment is pretty much screwed all the way out to take up the slack and keep the lever tight at rest.

im hoping maybe a new clutch cable will fix this. not a new clutch thanks for any advice.

Adjust the clutch cable under the countershaft sprocket cover. You should have about a 1/2" play when adjusted right at the clutch lever. Dennis

Pull your lever off and clean all of the gunk out, see if that helps first.
