This program called side search was d/l'd to our computer. I can't seem to delete it off. I think its causing all kinds of popups and my computer freezes a lot :(

When I try to delete it, it says can not delete. Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the files is not currently in use.

Anyone know what I can do to get rid of this thing???

Go to start -> run -> and type "msconfig" then go to your startup, and see if it's there. Uncheck it if it is. And if it's there (and it probably is), in the startup you can see where the file it launches is. Find that file and delete it.

Sounds like spy ware...
Im not a fan of spybot :shake
you should try Ad-aware. this is a great program that will remove spy ware (programs that cause a lot of pop ups and add random tool bars to your browser) i use it at home and work.
you can get it from http://www.download.com (search cor Ad-aware) or http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ (lavasoft is the comp that made the program)

:confused Gator is owned by Claria Corp. based out of California. Lavasoft, the company that developed AdAware, is based in Europe wherever the hell .de is.

Well, I did the spy bot right after karl said, and we will see :) it was super easy to use so that makes it pretty nice.

It brought up a bunch of crap, but it didn't bring up the side search, so I am going to try that other page Gixster gave, hopefully that will work!!

thanks everyone :)

'Tis a myth.

Spybot works dandy, but Adaware has been fairly trouble free as well. Adware takes a few runs through to really clean everything out. It's not as streamlined as spybot.

Okay, I got the program deleted :dance4

now.... I am still getting a ton of pop ups and when I am on the internet it takes awhile for screens to upload. Like when I click on cycleforums, the screen stays black for awhile and then it uploads :confused :confused

any ideas?

i work at an ISP, and we suggest Spybot to people. We dont support it, but we all use it. You do have to make sure and get the updates for it tho.
