I just got this email from a coworker

I have given up on sodas and what not for good old water myself but thought this was a good read and wanted to pass it on.

But you are Euro-faggish :laughing :redflip

I hate using both names "soda" and "pop"....I just call it what I want ;)

And here is the footnote to that quote:

1The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water treatment device are not necessarily in all users' water.

:shrug I don't see anything wrong with that. All it's saying is that those contaminants are not in everyone's water.

I think I'll go along with their statement that it is certified to reduce those contaminants listed. Even though the word "reduce" might be open for debate, at least they reduce it by SOME amount, unlike the zero reduction that you claimed when you said that Brita filters "do not" reduce minerals.

So you would reccomend that smokers switch to a Marlboro Light cigarette instead of the full flavor? I mean it does contain less cancer right?:D Think about it.

LOL!:laughing Did that analogy make sense to you bro? I sometimes say stuff that makes me lugh after I think about it. It brightend my day with your above post.:D Anyway I'm not trying to argue with you, Just putting some info on the table for interested parties. I'll answer any question you may have. I'm no longer in the water industry. So don't worry about me sending someone to your house to sell you something.:laughing

Hmm, maybe I'm confused, but I since I hate the smell of vinegar I'll stick with Coke until I remember otherwise. Any acid should do the trick.
I'm not saying it will not work with coke, just that I have never thought to use coke before.

Once again using vinegar (don't know about coke) I would suggest you leave the thing outside as the smell lingers for a few days afterward. Also be sure to not spill it on yourself, the dissolved egg guts and vinegar smell are really bad.

On another note, if you remove the now shell-less egg from the container and let it sit in the open for a few weeks/months the membrane will slowly compress to the yolk eventually forming a rock solid very odd looking egg. Take that and smash it and the yolk and remains of the membrane will resemble glass.
I am a soda fiend! Honestly I cant function without at least one a day. I will get a headache and real bitchy. Been trying to kick the habit for years but no luck. I know its all in my head but I swear the stuff is like crack to me!
You can argue this forever but one thing is certain. DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING WITH ASPARTANE. This means any "diet" soft drink. There are several articles about this, the government is hiding the information due to a "sweetheart deal". Basically the story is aspartane (nutrasweet) is manufactured using wood alcohol as a primary ingrediant. It breaks down under heat,no matter whether cooked or just stored in the sun,and causes the same type body damage that the winos drinking rubbing alcohol see. Vision problems and brain tumors, you name it,bad stuff. I can find the link given enough interest.

:confused Are you saying that it's dangerous only when broken down by heat? who heats up their diet coke?

Dude, temperature is average kinetic energy. Even at 10 degrees or whatever some of the particles still have the neccessary kinetic energy to break down.
It was never approved for use in "baked" goods, but snuck through. Diet drinks stored outside in summer, like at the local gas station, begin to decompose at normal summer temperatures. This was really a boondoggel. The lab studies caused cancer and brain tumors in the rats. The main guy refused to aprove this product,he was fired. The replacement guy refused to aprove this product until he was "persuaded". The company is Searle,I believe, and Nutrasweet is a big $$$$ product for them. It is poison. I cannot believe that a scientist would even consider using wood alcohol(methanol) in a product destined to be for human consumption. It is now in all types of products. You just think normal soft drinks are bad for you,I drink a lot of Coke, but the diet ones are straight up,poison. The information is on the web somewhere. It was forewarded to me,but I have given away the printout to friends that drink diet.I was always sceptical after the cyclamates and other diet sweetners. Try a "search engine" using "nutrasweet" or "aspartane",the research will open your eyes.

I NEVER drink soda. EVER. The last time I had a full serving of soda was back almost 4 years ago.

The main thing I drink is water and milk. Occasionally a little juice diluted.
Razor, how does RO water taste with all the minerals gone? Maybe its just where I grew up, but home well water tastes the best to me. :shrug

So does aspertame break down at body temperature? I don't like diet pop/soda so it doesn't matter to me - just curious.
So which artificial sweeteners are safer?
Maybe it's just me but when I read this thred title I thought of something else completely.... :confused

Actually, I did do an experiment back in fifth grade with a tooth in a small glass of coke. I would go with a pair of tweezers and pull it out every day and write a short report on its condition. Two days didn't do anything visible. But one week, and I was fishing around in there trying to find a soft pulp. By the middle of the second week, I couldn't find it in there at all. (And this was in a shot glass, mind you.) I found that rather impressive, especially since I had used my own tooth.

I'd never heard of using a steak or an egg. Sounds like a waste of a steak.

(Grabbing a liter mug of water from the break room...)

The stomach and other organs may be acidic. :confused
Your stomach mixes acid with your food, It's very acidic.

And as far as the steak in coke goes, have you seen what your stomach does to a piece of steak in 2 days?

I drink a lot of pepsi everyday, but I also drink a lot of water too.

Tastes great to me.:D I also like knowing that there are no impurities as well. Run down to the store and get a bottle of Aquafina. That is 100% R.O. water. Let me know what you think.
