i had that happen to my beagle years ago.... it was pitiful...

but, he never touched a porcupine again.... but i coulda cried when i was pulling them out and he was howling in pain and trying to get away.... gotta do it wghile their awake tho, teaches them a lesson....

One of my dogs couldn't avoid porcupines. We had to pull them about 6 or 7 times in his life. It's not fun at all.

They dont come out very easy either.

That just totally reminded me of my friend Tom, and his dog. His dog loved to chase and bite porcupines. He lived in the Sierra Nevadas and porcupines weren't hard to find, so it seemed like every stinking morning Tom had to pluck his dog. And sometimes again in the afternoon. :laughing

You should've heard the man cuss. The dog wasn't stupid either, he was really smart. He just had a thing for porcupines. Tom said porcupines were just his dog's white whale, they drove him crazy.

I hope that dog finally managed to kill one, I believe that's all he wanted, was to win once.

damn, that dog is not happy. oh well, hopefully he will learn
